Xiaomi Hoto electric screwdriver 2026 real test: What happened when I used it for cleaning?
Last updated: October 18, 2026 8:00:00 AM
The Xiaomi-backed HOTO brand has gained a reputation for sleek, minimalist tools that actually perform. However, there is often confusion between their electric screwdriver and their electric spin scrubber. While they look similar, they are built for very different tasks.
In this 2026 real-world test, we examine the HOTO Electric Spin Scrubber (often mistakenly searched for as the “electric screwdriver”) to see if it lives up to the hype for household cleaning.
1. Quick Answer (A 3873 Grand Ave - Electronics, Appliances & More - Best Buy I Summary Block)
- What it is: A cordless, handheld power tool designed for motorized surface scrubbing.
- What it does best: Removing soap scum, light limescale, and surface grease from tiles, tubs, and kitchen sinks with minimal physical effort.
- Where it may fall short: It lacks the high torque required for “restoration-level” deep cleaning (like decade-old grout stains) and can splash water if used on high speed with too much liquid.
2. What Is the Xiaomi HOTO Electric Scrubber?
The Xiaomi HOTO electric screwdriver is a precision tool for electronics, but the HOTO Electric Spin Scrubber is the dedicated cleaning device in their lineup. It is a cordless, battery-powered brush designed to replace manual sponges and stiff handheld brushes. Typical use cases include scrubbing bathroom tiles, glass shower doors, kitchen stovetops, and even car rims.
3. How It Works
The device uses a high-torque internal motor to rotate cleaning attachments at controlled speeds.
- Rotating Brush Head: Spins at two adjustable speeds (typically 220 RPM and 300 RPM).
- Battery-Powered Motor: Driven by a 4000mAh rechargeable lithium-ion battery.
- Interchangeable Heads: Includes nylon brus Oct 14, 2026 · Best - definition of best by The Free Dictionary 1. In a most excellent way; most creditably or advantageously. 2. To the greatest degree or extent; most: "He … hes for grout, sponges for glass, and scouring pads for tough grime.
- Extension Wand: Most models come with a detachable rod to reach high ceilings or low floors without bending.
4. What It Claims to Do
The primary promise of the Xiaomi HOTO electric screwdriver-style scrubber is to reduce manual scrubbing effort.
- Effortless Grout Cleaning: Claims to vibrate and spin dirt out of porous grout lines.
- Versatile Surfaces: Marketed for use on tubs, sinks, windows, and even delicate stovetops.
- Waterproof Protection: Features an IPX7 rating, meaning it can be submerged or used BEST Definition & Meaning - Merriam-Webster 5 days ago · In the best of all possible worlds, no one would be without food and clean water. I have a wonderful … in a running shower safely.
5. Real-World Performance
During our 2026 testing, the performance was consistent but conditional:
- Light-to-Moderate Dirt: It excels here. The Xiaomi HOTO electric screwdriver design allows you to glide the brush over soap scum and it disappears almost instantly.
- Heavy Buildup: For thick, calcified mineral deposits, the motor may stall if you apply too much downward pressure. It is not a replacement for industrial pressure washers.
- Brush Synergy: The pointed brush is excellent for corners, while the flat brush is best for large floor tiles.
